underworld girl.jpgIn these times, we are overwhelmed by the guiding fictions of well-being and yet are constantly dragged under by chronic or critical conditions.

"The afflicted organ gains one's constant attention; like a governing image it furnishes inexhaustible material for one's psychic fantasies and behaviours... an image in flesh that, like a daimon, guides and guards the actual growth of individual psychic life. We grow around and live from our weak spots." James Hillman

This two-day study and hands-on practice opens us up to the body as a living map. To read the map, a particular imaginal language is required.

Untitled.jpgA massage after vigorous exercise unquestionably feels good, and it seems to reduce pain and help muscles recover. Many people -- both athletes and health professionals - have long contended it eases inflammation, improves blood flow and reduces muscle tightness. But until now no one has understood why massage has this apparently beneficial effect.
Now researchers have found what happens to muscles when a masseur goes to work on them.
Their experiment required having people exercise to exhaustion and undergo five incisions in their legs in order to obtain muscle tissue for analysis.

"Acting on your heart's instructions means abandoning all those careful strategies for avoiding rejection and bolting toward the fertile, gorgeous jungle of human imagination and possibility."

- Martha Beck, American sociologist, therapist, life coach and best-selling author

Imagination creates reality. If physical reality is a habituated pattern of perception; if it is possible to engage with the living field as co-creator, then our health or well-being becomes a matter of how we dream ourselves into being. The ancients knew this. We are rediscovering it as a playful dance of creation wherein the non-manifest denses into matter and expresses as form and then returns back to spirit with each breath. This is a profound mysterious weaving from image to words to deeds ... different states of consciousness and vibration interconnected in different ways with other force fields around us ... I become we become it becomes me becomes it becomes.

Working with Rebalancing Deep Tissue Massage to release habituated holding patterns (mental, emotional and physical); conscious breathing; and Jin Shin Jyutsu® Physio-philosophy, an ancient and simple art of harmonizing the way energy moves through us and creates matter, we are awakened to the fact that it is through awareness and daily practice that we release stuck attitudes and renew ourselves as a vibrating force field in rhythm with the universe, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Pain becomes its own medicine pushing us toward consciousness. Discover its process, amplify its channel, and a symptom can turn into a medicine.

Understanding this process through receiving sessions and through the study and application of daily self help Jin Shin Jyutsu sequences we become aware of how consciousness builds, repairs, and protects our form... How attached am I to my pain? What kind of energy or vitality can I be?

"life moves in circles, cycles and circumambulations.. humans often have a preference for straight lines.. we think of evolution and human development as following an uncrooked path towards perfection.. it's interesting, then, that the alchemists of old.. described their task as one of cycling and circling..

in therapy, several men and women.. told me of their resolution to finally straighten out and move on. they were tired of the cycles in which they repeated destructive choices. but i didn't have much faith in their resolutions. it might have been better if they reflected positively on the repetitions that fuelled their desires rather than hoped for release from the bondage of their nature..

we might know ourselves better and be closer to our own nature by honouring these cycles rather than running away from them in sentimental philosophies of growth. i don't grow, i am. i don't change, i merely manifest differently the prime material with which i am born..

we are essentially rhythmic, musical.. patterns that define us return again and again, and in these returns we find our substance and our continuity, our original nature and our identity."

Thomas Moore 'original self'

How do I express when I voice the perfect expression that I Am today? How do I manifest differently the prime material with which I am born? What rhythms and cycles am I in? What consciousness? What continuity?

60 or 90 minute SESSIONS using the gentle Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu or Osho Deep Tissue Rebalancing Massage to bring the whole being to a state of deep release and harmony.

REBALANCING DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE combines the finest techniques of connective tissue manipulation, joint release, liquid bodywork, emotional & structural anatomy and conscious breathing to counteract chronic holding patterns that contribute to pain and illness. The essence of Rebalancing is a compassionate touch.

Easy to apply and non-invasive; Jin Shin Jyutsu simply utilises gentle touch to specific "safety energy locks" on the body. When we understand the basic principles, and know where to place our hands, we can bring profound harmony to our own body, heart and mind any time we choose. With ongoing practice of this ancient art, we recognize the wisdom of the body, and learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance. In this way it is a daily helper and a lifelong journey of increasing quality of life.

A session or series of treatments and/ or daily self help is effective in relieving pain, toxicity, fatigue, depression; restoring vitality; improving respiration, digestion, assimilation and immune response; and inducing deep relaxation. A series of sessions has a powerful synergetic effect and allows the whole body to be systematically included. Various self help tools are offered to create a sustainable flow of personal energy.

SELF HELP CLASSES are held regularly - please email or call for details.

SELF HELP WORKSHOPS are scheduled throughout the year in differrent centres - please call or email for details. Workshops can be arranged on request.
Workshops include discussion interspersed with hands on self-help "quickies" to offer a daily maintenance plan to renew your personal energy field. Participants leave with a practical understanding of how to restore balance and vitality to their stressful and ever changing lives.

One Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment harmonizes the body's energy for the next eight hours. By following one treatment after another for several consecutive days the harmonizing goes deeper and deeper into the body's layers (depths). This has a profound effect on the receiver. A program of treatments combines very well with a detox program, and can be created with you to honour your need for silence, retreat, and expression.

creation pic CB.jpgJin Shin Jyutsu ® Physio-Philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the body's life energy. It is the study of the playful dance of creation wherein consciousness condenses into matter and expresses as form and then returns back to spirit with each breath. This is a profound mysterious shift from thoughts, to words to deeds... different states of vibration interconnected with all other force fields around us. In such times of radical change with changing magnetic fields, shifts in consciousness and collapsing world structures, who would not welcome an opportunity to let go of stress and engage with the living field as co-creator. Then our health or well-being becomes a matter of how we dream ourselves into being.

In this one day workshop, you will learn the basic principles and a daily practice for Nourishing, Nurturing and Restoring yourself any time you choose. With ongoing practice, we learn to interpret the messages of symptoms and restore balance. In this way it can be not only a daily helper but a lifelong journey of increasing quality of life.

We live in an immense and mostly invisible universe. The kaleidoscope of perceptions, thoughts, feelings, images and impulses that crowd the mind only skim reality's surface. From unfathomable depths, the things we experience emerge in a perpetual upwelling of creation. Just as constantly, these forms melt back into the unseen domain. This appearance and dissolution is a flow, a circulation or current, encompassing the manifest and the non manifest.
The ultimate source of the current is a being of sheer simplicity.....

The Holy Longing

Tell a wise person, or else keep silent,
Because the massman will mock it right away.
I praise what is truly alive,
What longs to be burned to death.

In the calm water of love nights,
Where you were begotten, where you have begotten,
A strange feeling comes over you
When you see the silent candle burning.

Now you are no longer caught
In the obsession with darkness,
And a desire for higher lovemaking
Sweeps you forward.

Distance does not make you falter
Now, arriving in magic, flying
And finally insane for the light,
You are the butterfly, and you are gone.

And so long as you haven't experienced this:
To die, and so to grow,
You are only a troubled guest
On the dark earth.

Here are some ideas to ponder, as reworked from Soul Mates by Thomas Moore:

"Plato said that relationship is based on a form of madness, erotic madness. Rather than finding solutions for understanding and controlling the soul, we may have no recourse but to honour its mysteries and its madness. Soul is a mystery - not a puzzle to be solved, but a mystery in the religious sense: unfathomable, beyond manipulation. ... When our focus is on the surfaces of life, we seek out mechanical causes and solutions to problems, aimed at smoothing out the surfaces; but if our attention were on the soul, we would explore instead and allow for its unpredictable intentions, and we would not be so concerned with how to make relationships 'work,' because the soul point of view isn't ambitious in that way. It doesn't make love a life project. The soul is not dedicated to perfection, it is not aimed at achieving an unblemished, unruffled relationship; on the contrary, it makes room for the putrefaction of decay, for relationships that rub our noses in the slime of life, and so offers an important exposure to our own depth."

Imagine a guide rope for negotiating the third space, the us, the relationship - a container that holds the tension between you and me intact as it morphs and reshapes through our life together. Imagine a reference point that opens and sees like an eye; a place to witness and express the tensions and emotional fallout but with awareness of who is home and what part of you is triggering. Imagine writing the story of us as a blueprint for who we are and what we bring to the pot....all of it.
And yet, is writing the story of us, even as a changing, alive reference point, not an ego defense against not having inner ground, an ego tool to create stability in a life in which there is no solidity? A fantasy of control, of being in control, of trying to control something that is unknowable?

"We may worry about death but what hurts the soul most is to live without tasting the water of its own essence." -Rumi

Dreams speak the symbolic language of the soul, the poetry of the vast energetic systems of the unconscious. When was it that we forgot our tools for interpreting these messages? Why was it that we lost our memories of paths into the oceans of dreaming? How did we lose touch with our instinctual nature and our connection with the guides who play between the worlds? What made our language for relating to the numinous shrivel and die out? Where are the rituals to experience ourselves anew?

Despite our attempts to integrate our inner life with our ego-mind and external reality and our efforts at self-knowledge, our experience of being human in this technological and materialist age has become confused, sanitized, degraded, split off from the nature that feeds us. Hungry we search for meaning only to realize it is yet another ego project disguised as a 'divine encounter'. We shudder at the inner knowing that there is so much that is unknowable and pop another pill. We collapse under the flood of emotions and energies from the unconscious that possess us creating psychological distress: moods, depressions, neuroses, madness, illness and violence. And yet each night, we are drawn into the imaginal oceans of dreams, offering us a chance to taste the waters of our soul essence. Relearning the art of interpreting the dramas that play out in our dreams does not simply offer insight or improvement of everyday life, or even renewal of ones psychic equilibrium and the healing of distress. It is a skilled and ancient way of reconciling with the essential paradox of being human through dialogue with infinite and ungraspable nature contained in the symbolic images of the dream.

One of our modern teachers of this art was Carl Jung who identified dream interpretation as a method for assimilating unconscious contents into consciousness to deepen the individuation process.

"All are born with a profound delicate power. Due to worldly selfish pursuits, however, this pure and mysterious force becomes hidden and only our lowly minor forces develop within us. This finally results in illness, unhappiness, aging, frustration and a searching for help from without. But by awakening the vital force which animates the body...the cause or causes can be eliminated. The truth is that within each of us lies the power to cast all misery aside and KNOW complete Oneness - to Be that beautiful creation of perfect harmony - to truly KNOW (HELP) MYSELF. It is not the application of a technique; it is demonstration of art, simply Being the channel through which flow infinite aesthetic powers of the Creator" Mary Burmeister.

It was Mary Burmeister who, in years of study and dedication, further condensed the essence of the teachings of the Art into three simple self-help books which provide the student with the dynamic tools for self-sufficiency. In a self-help class, the student approaches an understanding of these profound books and through them, the philosophy and the most practical tools of the Art. The tools can then immediately be used for oneself, family, friends and animals while the philosophy may gently shift one's focus away from the attitudes that keep reproducing the same stresses.

By learning to use daily sequences to clear the flow of energy that opens the whole back and front of the body, we relieve daily tension. The mind is no longer in turmoil, a deep sense of peace and well being is experienced and the natural healing process is activated. With ongoing practice, we learn to interpret the wisdom of the body as a daily helper in a lifelong journey of increasing a sustainable quality of life.

The creative power of the entire universe lies in our hands. The only way we know this, however, is to experience the transformation.

The evening meeting is run throughout the year in contemplation of the seasons. Individualized notes and support are offered to assist you applying the Art as a routine practice to maintain general health and address your specific needs. It is for students of JSJ, clients and anyone who is interested in vitality, fun and abundance.

Givan-GoingDownTrueLove-A1.jpgC.G. Jung suggests the system of human growth is a moving toward wholeness by integrating the unconscious content of the individual into consciousness. In his many writings he examines the complex schema of the individual psyche as comprised of many parts and the relationship of these parts to the whole. An understanding of this illuminates what it takes to move toward wholeness, to heal, to make holy, to hale as me all the known and unknown parts of self, the boiling cauldron of contradictory thoughts, feelings, sensations, instincts and affects that are alive in the total being now.

TO NOW KNOW MYSELF can thus be posited as the maxim for the healing of the self. It occurs as ongoing creative and reflective encounters with life processes and as dialogues with personal and collective aspects of the self through which we can live life open to god.

Total Solar eclipse 1999 in France.

Image via Wikipedia

BLESSINGS ....AS we enter the new decade and solar year with a full moon and lunar eclipse.. I smile. It is the second decade of the millennium and in this incandescent light of a 'blue moon'... I stop to listen. And I hear the words of my friend Galeo Saintz.

The Turning of the World

You walk there
Living your life as if the turning
of the world
was beyond
your influence.
It is not,
not any longer.
Have you not noticed?
Where you wander
with your step
that we now drive the weather and determine the
acid waters of the vast seas.
That it is us
who shoot missiles into the moon in the name
of science and so insult science .
We are the kin that bail out thieves and continue to decry
the poor to lives undeserved by any life-form - have you stopped to listen?
Yes, it is you and I
who send the innocent
not yet born
to lands where rainforests
may only be myth
where white bears of the north only fable.
It is the image reflected in the collected waters
of a rock pool
Giving myself back to myself - the small bewildered
human animal
that walks a pathless land far out in the wild and wonders
How did this happen?
It happened when wakefulness gave way to stupor, I sense
When greed won over sentiment
When our only home of the deep living soils and the deep running waters
was traded for currency.
When the songs of the species and the winged cry of the trees were
drowned with the incessant rap of the money machine in
each of our lives.
And it happened on our watch, they will say.
I walk into the mountains
And begin again to find a voice,
A will
A small self no longer afraid to say stop
and become a rivulet of
change drawing
I may not be alone
I know now
The turning of the world is
in my hands
and is carried by the reflected
change within myself.
Have you noticed this where you wander with your step in this
beautiful world turning?

Galeo Saintz 31 December 2009

And in the words of my teacher... as full moon reflects the awareness of our source..
eclipse reveals the shadows that we must own..
integration brings creativity..
blue lights the path of imagination..
the actual becomes possible
and we find our way home..

may your year exceed your expectations and unite you with your hearts desire..

"A New Aspiration
In the new enlightenment, the reason we are driven to become one with the life-process is not merely to experience some form of mystical oneness with everything. We strive to become one with it for the biggest reason there could be--so we can ultimately take responsibility for where it's going. And the reason this aspiration is so significant is that, if we succeed, the very process we endeavor to take responsibility for literally begins to awaken to itself through us. This potential becomes even more powerful and significant when the profound awakening of and to the evolutionary process happens in and through several people at the very same time. When this occurs, self, culture, and cosmos evolve before our very eyes. That means that the world we occupy and cocreate begins to transform as we do. The old model of enlightenment was one in which the individual transformed, but the world remained the same. In the new model, the point is no longer merely the transformation of the individual; it's the evolution of self, culture, and cosmos through the individual."
Andrew Cohen

The grandmother of acupuncture (without the needles), Jin Shin Jyutsu is the gentle art of harmonizing the energy pathways in the body to rejuvenate your own profound healing capacity and connect you with the endless energy of the universe.

It is not the application of a technique; it is demonstration of art, simply Being the channel through which flows infinite aesthetic powers of the Creator." Mary Burmeister.

Rumi, the great Sufi poet and mystic, once said: "Relationships are the spiritual crucible on which we are fired and tempered". In the last while I have been contemplating how difficult it is to engage in the shifts and changes that keep one's own life vital while sustaining a significant relationship. I find myself continually adjusting to what often feels like a series of compromises. And then one day you wake up and realise you are hiding from the deep truth within or hiding the deep truth within from the chosen other .

In contemplating how to create the changes I need to make I remembered an email a friend sent me which led me to this fantastic site I would like to share: www.stateofgracedocument.com

I quote:
There is a new way to build, sustain and transition relationships with honor and grace and it is called the State of Grace Document. It takes into consideration each individual involved in the relationship, their personal preferences, their expectations as well as the nature of the relationship, be it between colleagues, employee and manager, partners, husband and wife, landlord and tenant, client and supplier, or any other relationship situation that exists.

maryAbout1.jpgArticle published in the March/April 1988 issue of Yoga Journal

The tiny, energetic woman placed one of my hands in hers, grasping my forefinger firmly but not tightly. Her eyes sparkled as she looked into mine and said, "See? Isn't that simple?" Miraculously, the tension of months of work disappeared. It was Jin Shin Jyutsu® in action, she explained.

Categorizing Jin Shin Jyutsu can be as difficult as pigeonholing its one-woman leading force, Mary Burmeister. More than a style of bodywork, it's a philosophy of life taught by a master who lives her philosophy.

Burmeister describes Jin Shin Jyutsu (which means "art of the Creator through compassionate man" in Japanese) as a "physio-philosophy" that is used by everyone unconsciously, doesn't "do" anything, yet encompasses everything. "I call it the art of life, the art of life itself. It is the whole cosmos and cannot be categorized," Burmeister explains.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-philosophy and finding peace of mind in these accelerating times of change.

One of my meditation teachers once said to me that when we first incarnated the mind was given to us as a tool. And over many incarnations and lifetimes it has become our master. I began questioning: Am I my mind? How does the ego-mind trap my Soul? How can I go beyond the ego-mind? What am I beyond the ego? How do I create a more balanced state of consciousness, a peace of mind? What is consciousness?

These are questions that I have asked for some years now and in searching for answers have discovered, amongst other great works and practices, Eckhart Tolle's 'New Earth', Mayan predictions by several authors/ interpreters, and key for my evolution the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu. I will share with you some thoughts that attempt to answer some of these questionings and specifically how Jin Shin Jyutsu offers me a practice to explore stepping out of the separateness of the ego-mind into an awareness of hidden harmony, that sacredness that realigns one with the wholeness of life and our conscious participation in the creation of life. That simple KNOW MYSELF Be it is, is.

I begin with an email article by Simone Butler (included in your handouts):

"The Artless Art of Getting to Know (Help) Myself"

The Main Central Vertical Flow is the source of our life energy. This pathway runs down the center of the front of the body and back up the spine. Here is a Jin Shin Jyutsu® self-help process to harmonize this pathway.
